Biocatalytic Carboxylate Reduction – Recent Advances and New Enzymes

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carboxylate reductases (CARs) are valuable catalysts for the selective one-step reduction of carboxylic acids to their corresponding aldehydes. In recent years, numerous new CARs have been made available, studied and applied in context biocatalytic syntheses. The preparation aldehydes as end products flavor fragrance sector integration cascade reactions with key intermediates represent two major fields applications. This review gives a comprehensive overview current toolbox recombinant carboxylate substrates. Non-natural functions highlighted insight into structure-function relationship summarized.

Recent Advances in Selection and Engineering of Biomass Degrading Enzymes

Plant biomass represents a renewable and practically inexhaustible bio resource for production of fuels and chemicals, and in the coming years it is considered to play the same role in human civilization as oil in 20th and beginning of the 21st century. For the last three decades, the production of first-generation liquid biofuels (mainly, ethanol from food crops in the USA and that from sugarc...

Recent Advances in Hemophilia Gene Therapy

Heterogeneous loss of function mutations at F8 and F9 genes causes X-linked recessive bleeding disorders, hemophilia A (HA) and hemophilia B (HB), respectively. HA is clinically indistinguishable from HB and accounts for more than 80% of hemophilia cases; the former affects 1/5000 and the latter 1/25000 male births worldwide. In Iran, it is estimated that around 4300 HA and 900 HB patients are ...

Ras proteins: recent advances and new functions.

THE RAS FAMILY comprises H-Ras, K-Ras 4A, K-Ras 4B, N-Ras, and other homologous proteins such as R-Ras, TC21, Rap, and Ral. Ras protein function is controlled by a guanosine triphosphate-guanosine diphosphate (GTP-GDP) cycle that is regulated by at least 2 distinct classes of regulatory proteins.1 First, a GTPase-activating protein recognizes the active GTP-bound protein and stimulates the intr...

Fish locomotion: recent advances and new directions.

Research on fish locomotion has expanded greatly in recent years as new approaches have been brought to bear on a classical field of study. Detailed analyses of patterns of body and fin motion and the effects of these movements on water flow patterns have helped scientists understand the causes and effects of hydrodynamic patterns produced by swimming fish. Recent developments include the study...

Menkes disease: recent advances and new aspects.

Copper is the third most abundant trace element in the body, after iron and zinc, and it is required for the normal function of several important copper enzymes. However, the same element in excess is highly toxic and has detrimental effects. Fine regulation of intracellular copper homeostasis is therefore vitally important and disturbance of this balance is reflected in two hereditary disorder...
